Program Description & Goals
Description:
The Gender Expression Workshop (GEW) is a seven-week, community-based program designed to support adolescents aged 12–17 in exploring and expressing their gender identity socially, without requiring medical intervention. Each 90-minute weekly session focuses on a different aspect of gender expression, including vision board-building, gender-affirming hair and skincare, movement through physical therapy, and voice training. Separate sessions for parents/guardians foster understanding and support.
Adapted with permission from a Kaiser Permanente model, GEW is facilitated by licensed mental health professionals and topic experts. The program culminates in skill application and future planning, with evaluation tools such as the Gender Euphoria Survey used to measure impact and empower future iterations of the program.
Health Issue Being Addressed:
Transgender and gender-diverse youth face significant barriers to affirming care, especially in the current political climate where access to medical gender-affirming services is increasingly restricted. These barriers contribute to poor mental health outcomes, social isolation, and increased risk of crisis intervention. The GEW addresses these disparities by offering a non-medical, community-based program that supports gender expression, builds resilience, and strengthens family support systems.

Parents/Guardians of Gender Diverse Youth Info -
Join us for a 7-week journey designed to help you better understand and support your gender diverse child (ages 12–17).
While they explore self-expression through creative, expert-led workshops, you’ll be part of a parallel track just for parents and guardians. These are focused on learning, connection, and empowerment. This also allows time for you to meet with the experts, special guests, and those walking this journey along their kids. In this time of community you will be empowered to ask the “un-askables”, seek to understand, and your own parental skillset.
Together, you’ll build stronger bonds, celebrate identity, and create a space where your child can truly thrive. And each of you will celebrate turning up the volume of self expression to celebrate identities you each carry to foster belonging.
